LABORATORY FOR DIAGNOSIS OF SPIROCHETE DISEASES

Spirochete-induced diseases in animals and humans are diagnosed by using the standard tests of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) in the Laboratory for Diagnosis of Spirochete Diseases of our Institute. The Laboratory for Diagnosis of Spirochete Diseases of our Institute has been providing services since 1960.

A. DUTIES

1-Diagnosing spirochete induced diseases (Leptopspirosis and Borreliosis) in animals and     humans,

2-Organizing training programs for Veterinary Surgeons working at other Institutes, field veterinarians, farmers and producers and providing consultancy services in line with the programs prepared by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock regarding the diagnosis of spirochetes induced diseases in animals and in line with the demands from Veterinary Control and Research Institutes and from provinces,

3-Providing services in various commissions established by our Ministry, concerning subjects about spirochetes induced diseases,

4-Implementing projects regarding spirochetes induced diseases.

 

B. SCOPE OF ACCREDITATION

Our laboratory was accredited in 2008 by TÜRKAK for "the Diagnosis of Leptospirosis by Microscopic Agglutination Test (MAT)" within the scope of TS EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005.


 C. SCOPE OF NATIONAL REFERENCE

Our laboratory is the national reference laboratory for the Leptospirosis disease.
