The closing meeting and epidemiology workshop for the Field Epidemiology Training, organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), took place from August 7th to 9th, 2023, at the Istanbul Pendik Veterinary Control Institute. The event was attended by General Directors, the Head of the Animal Health and Quarantine Department, mentors responsible for project preparation, veterinarians who completed the training, university members, representatives from the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization. Additionally, the Secretary General of the Turkish Veterinary Medical Association was present. The program also featured the participation of FAO Ankara Office staff, an FAO expert from the University of Sydney, and a trainer from the Royal Veterinary College.
During the meeting, discussions encompassed the outcomes of the previously conducted two-week training program, totaling four weeks in total, as well as future activities in the field of veterinary epidemiology. Some project highlights and mentoring experiences were also shared. Concluding the meeting, decisions were reached to continue the training of trainers and foster collaboration with stakeholders. The program concluded with the presentation of certificates to the project participants.
